Does my phone support eSIM?
Check your phone in a minute before you buy, and make sure it is unlocked.
The quickest check
Open your phone dialler and enter *#06#. If you see a number labelled EID, your phone has an eSIM chip.
On iPhone you can also look in Settings > General > About: an "EID" or "Digital SIM" entry means eSIM support.
Phones that usually support eSIM
- iPhone XS, XR and newer, including every iPhone SE from 2020
- Google Pixel 3 and newer
- Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, plus the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series
- Many recent phones from Motorola, Oppo, Xiaomi and others
Some models sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and a few other markets ship without eSIM, so run the *#06# check to be sure.
Your phone must be unlocked
A phone locked to one carrier will refuse other eSIMs. If you bought it on a contract, ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel.
